Random Acts of Kindness

For the month of December we will have a special homework assignment.  It is "Random Acts of Kindness" to celebrate the holiday season.

Here is a brief description:
Acts of Kindness

With the holiday season upon us, we have been talking with the children about “giving”.  We have let the children know that giving is not necessarily connected with material objects but more importantly, giving of oneself in acts of kindness.  We are encouraging the children to perform at least two acts of kindness every day: one at school and one at home.

The homework for the next few weeks will be to record the acts of kindness on the attached sheet.  Please sign the sheet each day and have your child bring it in their homework folder.   This way they will be able to share their acts of kindness with us and we can discuss the true meaning of the holiday season.

Happy Holidays,
Mrs. Tigges & Mrs. Lewis

Happy Thanksgiving!

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving we had a special celebration in Rooms 17 & 18.  Between the two rooms we had 10 stations set up.  All of the stations had a Thanksgiving activity that incorporated reading, math, writing, social studies or art.  The children worked cooperatively to complete the activities such as writing an acrostic poem of what they were thankful for, creating a Thanksgiving place mat, writing step by step directions on how to prepare and cook a turkey, solving a Thanksgiving memory game and sharing Thanksgiving books.  Here are some pictures of our Thanksgiving fun!

Conference Day Schedule: Thursday, December 4th

Today your child came home with a slip for a conference schedule.  You will meet with your child's homeroom teacher unless you request to meet with both of us or we request to both meet with you. If your child has Mrs. Sheppard for reading and you would like to meet with her as well, please indicate that also and we will coordinate it on this end.

Please return the slip as soon as possible.

BRRRRR....It's getting cold outside!

The weather is quickly changing!!
We try to out for recess as much as possible. Please have your child wear a warm winter coat, hat, mittens, etc.
We would like to have healthy children heading into the holiday season.
